when words fail me, which is often, I paint. When words work for me and are available on time, I am surprised.

Open Door

"This being human is a guest house.

Every morning
a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and attend them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture, still,
treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond..."
Mevlana Jelalu'ddin Rumi : Persian sufi mystic
Mevlana Rumi (1207 - 1273)

It's a painting of an image from an inter-life regression. I opened a door and met 4 guides. If you look closely, they are small purple figures on left foreground. I tried to put them on the bench, they kept walking away. The little girl is me; in the inter-life I appear very Alice in Wonderland, bizarre. I know it's a childlike painting but that's how those things come out. You are all sweet.
